Location: East/west travel between SH 130 and FM 3349 and north/south travel to US 79 in Precinct 4
Description: Williamson County conducted a study to consider connections for east/west travel between SH 130 and FM 3349 and north/south travel to US 79. The schematic was completed in spring 2020, and right-of-way acquisition is underway. As part of the Southeast Loop Study, the FM 3349 at US 79 project was identified and proposed due to the need for a grade-separated crossing over the Union Pacific Railroad and US 79. Status: Construction of the first segment of the Southeast Loop began in summer 2021 and includes a new roadway with one lane in each direction and a center turn lane from CR 138 at Dana Drive to CR 137. The project also includes widening the existing CR 138 pavement to add a dedicated right-turn lane from westbound CR 138 to northbound SH 130 and resurfacing and restriping the pavement in front of the Lakeside Estates neighborhood. Funding for construction was secured through the voter-approved 2019 Road Bond. RTG is the designer and James Construction is the contractor. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday, June 30, at The Bridge Church. Construction is anticipated to be completed in summer 2023. The CR 137 to CR 404 segment is under design and the County is actively pursuing construction funding.
Lane Closure: James Construction Group will be performing day work Monday through Friday, Dec. 5 to 9, between the hours of 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. JCG will close the southbound lane on CR 137 between CR 197 and CR 139 with traffic barrels and will use a flagging operation with radio communication for traffic control. Minimal delays are expected. Work is weather pending.
*Please note, the first phase of this project is a two to three-lane road with one lane in each direction and potentially a center turn lane, as shown on the Interim Schematics. As traffic requires, a second frontage road, which will create divided lanes for each direction, and main lanes will be added if the County continues to grow and the need arises.
